What to put in an engagement enquiry

Nothing here is compulsory. It just saves three rounds of clarification.

The CI system, named

Which runner platform, self-hosted or managed, and roughly how many jobs a day. A build that runs eleven times a day has different economics from one that runs four hundred times, and the answer changes at that boundary.

One line is enough

The number that annoys you

Wall-clock for a full pipeline, queue wait at the worst hour, or the cache hit rate if you already measure one. An approximate figure you have seen beats an exact figure you have inferred.

Approximate is fine

What has already been tried

Bigger runners, a shared cache that had to be turned off, a partial migration that stalled. Knowing what failed and why rules out a whole branch of the conversation before it starts.

What happens to an email you send

Controller: VAIR LTD is the controller for correspondence sent to this address.
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests, UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f). The named interest is answering people who approach the company about its work.
Retention: Enquiry correspondence is held for two years after the last reply in the thread, then removed. Correspondence that becomes part of a contract stays six years past the close of that engagement.
Recipients: Our email provider, acting as a processor. Listed in part 7 of the privacy manifest.
Your rights: Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, set out in full in part 13 of the privacy manifest.
Complaints: To us first, then to the Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, 0303 123 1113.
Data protection officer: No data protection officer has been appointed. The company does not fall within Article 37(1) of the UK GDPR, which is where that obligation would arise.
